SMS Notifications

The Send Notifications system has been updated to provide more reliable SMS (text message) delivery. SmarterTrails now uses Twilio as our third-party SMS provider.

Previously, SMS notifications were sent using email-to-text services provided by cellular carriers. Over time, many carriers have deprecated or restricted this approach, which resulted in inconsistent message delivery. Twilio delivers messages using standard SMS services through a dedicated phone number, improving reliability across all carriers.
